Treating pimples with prescription medications can achieve improvement for moderate to severe pimple outbreaks. Both oral and topical medications can be prescribed. The topical medications contain the same ingredients as the over the counter medications the only difference being the concentration of the active ingredients. Oral prescription pimple medications are usually antibiotics such as tetracycline. Tetracycline has known side effects, such as the impact this medication has on bone formation. It is not recommended to be taken by young teens or pregnant women. Prescription medications can have dangerous side effects.

Most people believe that acne attacks a person only during adolescence when the body goes through the stage of puberty. However, a lot of exceptions have been noticed by scientific evidences. This implies that any one get pimples at any age, irrespective of the nation that they belong to. This obviously opens up a question – What is it really that causes pimples to appear on the skin? To be able to find a solution to a problem you must know what it is that has caused the problem. Therefore, it is important to understand the cause of acne before treating it.

If left to itself, a pimple usualy heals in 3 days, all on its own. However, a lot of youngsters do not have the patience to wait that long. They tend to pop these out. Although, it is a wrong practice, if done it should be done with a lot of caution. If blood or a clear fluid oozes out of the zit, you should stop squeezing it any further. When done with sqeezing a zit, hands must be properly washed and sterilized. More so, if the plan is to pop out another one. If you are one of those who pops out pimples to get rid of them you must have noticed that there are some pimples that are tougher to remover than the others. For these pimples, you should warm some waterand dip a piece of sterilized gauze in it. Place this gauze on the zit and leave it for a while. Once the pimple softens with the heat it can be easily popped.

There is an existing myth about the causes of pimples, which claim that only those who are in their puberty stage could acquire them. Scientific evidence would indicate otherwise showing that you can get pimples regardless of your age, gender, or nationality. Hence, it raises an interesting question that is common but none have been able to find a definitive answer to: what causes pimples? Your ability to find the answer to this could also mean the start of your battle against pimples.

Even if the acne is severe it starts healing on its own by the end of the third day of its first appearance. So, one should not need to pop a pimple. If you still need to do it you must keep a few things in mind. The moment you are able to see blood or a clear fluid oozing out of the pimple you should stop squeezing it any further. Once you have finished popping the pimple you should immediately wash your hands and sterilize them. This will save you from spreading the infection to other regions on your skin. This should especially be done when you have plans to pop out another pimple. You will notice that there are certain pimples that do not pop out easily. You should not exert extra effort on them. Instead, warm some water and a dip a piece of sterilized gauze in it and leave it on the zit for a while. This will soften the zit and make it easier to remove.
