Over the counter and prescription acne treatments often contain chemicals that some people prefer not to use. Home treatments are sometimes a better choice. You can get marked improvement through many of these home treatments for acne. Consider the following tips in brief.
Bergamot Oil, Clove Oil, Lavender Oil, Rosewood Oil and Tea Tree Oil are a few essential oils you can apply on your acne. Sensitive skin will require any of the above oils to be mixed with grapeseed oil. Apply this topically before you go to bed, and the morning after, use a mild soap (emphasis on mild) like Ivory ™ and fresh water to wash it away.
If you are not taking any medications that could cause you to be overly sensitive to the sun, try getting some sunshine everyday. This is not a strategy of subterfuge in which you are trying to tan your skin to hide the acne. Instead, the sun actually kills the bacteria, and dries up the sebum oil that produces acne. This is a common home treatment for acne that doesn’t cost anything.
Most of us only remember acne for its outwards effect, but it actually takes place on the inside of the body. With that in mind and the eventual detoxification of your body (and possible acne cure) make sure that you don’t drink anything less than eight glasses of water daily. In addition, ante up your fruit ‘n’ veg consumption to this end.
Another popular home treatment for acne would be using an oatmeal mask once or twice a week. Cook oatmeal, and while it is still warm (not scalding hot) apply it to your entire face. Wash away the oatmeal after it has dried up. Another alternative would be to use raw oatmeal, merely dampened with warm water, as a facial scrub, thus cleaning your pores and exfoliating your skin.
The only time you should eat processed foods would be if your cupboard goes bare for one reason or another – stick with organic fruits and vegetables and you should be fine. No food has ever been scientifically proven to cause acne, however, if you have a food allergy, the allergy often results in acne. Many people have food allergies, and go their entire lives without knowing it. Don’t assume that a food allergy will leave you unconscious on the floor – the allergic reaction can appear in many forms, like acne breakouts. To find out whether you have food allergies, always consult a doctor or allergy specialist and ask him/her if they can give you a blood test.
Among the various home treatments for acne out there, some are extremely effective while others are absolutely useless contributions by know-it-all hacks. The important thing is to drink plenty of water, eat fresh fruits and vegetables, get plenty of sleep, wash your face at least twice a day, and take vitamins – especially vitamin A and vitamin E.
